Eligibility for Financial Aid
To be eligible for financial aid you must:
- Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA)
- Be a United States citizen or eligible noncitizen
- Be registered with the Selective Service if required
- Be admitted and enrolled in a program leading to a degree
or certificate
- Be making satisfactory academic progress
- Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default
on a federal educational loan
- Have financial need
- Not be convicted of violating any Federal or State drug
possession or sale law
Funding for some programs is limited, so the earlier you
apply, the greater your eligibility for these programs will
be. These programs are first-come, first-served and are
based on the date you apply. Not all programs are time sensitive,
so apply even if you have missed the early deadlines.
Your financial aid is determined based on your financial
need. A greater financial need will make you more eligible
for aid programs that do not have to be repayed (grants).
Regardless of financial need, all students are eligible
for student loans, as long as you are not in default on
a previous student loan. Financial need is determined by
a formula created by the government. In it's simplest form
the formula is:
Household income - taxes and living expenses
=
Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
If you are ineligible for need-based funding or if your
need-based funding does not meet your budgeted educational
expenses, we will offer you aid that is not based on need.
